Where to rent an e-bike in Cornwall. Discover the Duchy with an electric bike rental.

Introducing our handy guide to renting an e-bike in Cornwall. Whether for business or pleasure, getting around Cornwall just got a whole lot more fun!

There are now e-bike rental locations spread across Cornwall, making it possible to use this sustainable form of transport to commute to work in some places. Here at Harding Laity, as Cornish property experts we’ve been looking at some of the new location factors which make areas desirable, and we think e-bike rental is one of them!

E-bikes are great modes of transport for business and pleasure. They’re opening up areas of Cornwall you’d previously never be able to explore in a day, making them a major attraction for visitors who want to see as much as possible in a short space of time.

Even if you live locally, the appeal of being a tourist for a day and exploring your own backyard by electric bike is huge. With stunning scenery stretching from St Michael’s Mount in the West, to Bodmin Moor in the North, it’s not surprising that we’re embracing this green travel phenomenon!

Camel Trail Electric Bike Hire: Wadebridge

Camel Trail e-Bike Hire is based in Wadebridge and is geared up (excuse the pun!) to help customers navigate the scenic Camel Trail which connects Bodmin and Padstow. They have a number of suggested routes on the Camel Trail, from Wadebridge to Padstow, Bodmin or Wenford Bridge.

However, they can also deliver bikes to you, opening up a large area of discovery! All their e-bikes with rear hub motors have V-Wave technology, offering fully customisable power settings, near-silent motor running and excellent power efficiency.

Read our Journal entry on The Camel Trail here, or find out more about Wadebridge and Bodmin in our Location Guides.

Go eBike Hire: St Ives Bay

Go eBike Hire is based at Gwithian Towans on the fringes of picturesque St Ives Bay – one of the most stunning stretches of coast in the whole of the UK. All their eBikes come with a smartphone mount so you can simply follow their favourite routes.

Start an eBike adventure from their base at Gwithian to go on a seal spotting coastal ride or take on their ‘Ultimate Challenge’ graded route, discovering five of Cornwall’s historic lighthouses.

If you’ve just moved to St Ives or the surrounding area, we can’t think of a better way to get to know your new home patch! Read more in our Location Guide to St Ives.

Ride On: Penzance

The Ride On hire shop is in Penzance, a few wheel spins from the beautiful Mount’s Bay. The team also offer a bike delivery and collection service to anywhere within a 10 mile radius, so covering much of the far tip of the Cornish peninsula.

Use the expertly-maintained bikes to explore stunning Penwith. Our suggestion is the Poldark to Porthcurno route, which takes in Land’s End, the picturesque hamlet of Porthgwarra (where much of Poldark was filmed) and the unique Minack Theatre.

Co Bikes: Falmouth

Co Bikes offer on-demand electric bike hire from two locations in Falmouth; The Moor and Falmouth Town train station. You can register to rent, ride and return their bikes to designated Co Bike stations using a handy app. Co Bikes are a not for profit social enterprise powered by Good Energy, which aims to help reduce congestion and pollution.

If you live, work or study in Falmouth or Penryn, it’s easy to use Co Bikes to get around. For a fun day out, our suggestion is to ride from Falmouth to join the Bissoe Trail. At roughly 22 miles (there and back), this trail is one of Cornwall’s most popular routes for cyclists.
