Shop Local And Plastic-Free This Christmas!

As we work hard behind the scenes to get those last-minute house sales through in time for Christmas, we can’t help but get excited for our clients who may be spending their first festive season in Cornwall this year!

Christmas shopping in Cornwall is less about a dash down the high-street, and more about country house experiences, artisan craft fairs and festive farmers’ markets – usually against a backdrop of Cornish carols, mulled wine and beautiful Christmas lights.

The added bonus of shopping at these events is that plastic items, packaging and bags will be minimal, as our small businesses and producers are leading the way in cutting down on waste. So, as the count-down begins, we’ve put together a handy guide to shopping locally and plastic-free this festive season. At these events you’ll not only have a great festive experience, you’ll also be supporting local producers, and shopping in an ethical, sustainable way. Huzzah!

Etsy Made Local Christmas Fair, Penryn Campus, Falmouth 15th – 17th November

Over 70 local makers, all of whom sell via the online platform Etsy, will be packing the sports centre on Penryn Campus for this ethical opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas shopping. It promises to be a cornucopia of all things quirky, handmade, keep-sake, original, and treasured – “modern heirlooms that haven’t been made by modern slaves” according to the organisers. With plenty of free parking on-site, this is sure to a bustling, heart-warming start to the festive season. “Buy less, buy well” is the spirit of the day, and this event captures the feeling wholeheartedly, with an area for Food Bank donations, and a charity raffle raising money for reforestation.
