Our Open House Interviews take you into some of the houses we are marketing to see how their current owners feel about living there. Here, we talk to Jean and Michael about their charming stone built Cornish cottage tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Trefanny Hill near Pelynt.

Jean tells us why they bought Farthings cottage as their holiday home,

“Michael and I love Cornwall with it’s wonderful wild coastline and sandy beaches together with the fishing villages of Looe and Polperro. But how to find the real English countryside so close to the sea?

Farthings provided the complete solution!

We were looking for “our own space” surrounded by nature and old world character in a truly English countryside setting. Farthings cottage provided the complete solution!

When we first viewed the property we instantly loved the historic stone walls enclosing the private gardens which reinforced a feeling of security and well being. This was underlined by the homely quintessential atmosphere of a typical Cornish cottage.

Treffany Hill is an ideal Cornish setting, being in the heart of the wonderful countryside, but close to the coast and amenities which was vital for us and our family to enjoy.

The nearby beaches are fantastic

Nearby we love everything that the sea has to offer and the beaches are fantastic, our favourites being Looe, Talland Bay and Lansallos all within a short drive.

There are many walks and within a mile of the genuine Cornish village of Pelynt which offers two supermarkets, a social club, pub, doctors surgery and more.

Friday evenings are Fish and Chip nights for us and you can’t get better than the fresh fish straight from the sea delivered locally! We always collect them from the mobile van at the nearby caravan park. Delicious!

There are also many good restaurants in Looe and the pub in Pelynt serves really good food.

We will really miss our holidays at Farthings Cottage, especially the open space both on our private grounds, and the open countryside. Unfortunately we are not spending enough time there anymore due to family commitments and now find ourselves needing to sell.”

It was an absolute pleasure to get to know Jean and Michael a little better and find out what they love about their charming cottage in such a perfect location.
